Markets, Markets, Markets

We started Sunday off with a trip on the tube to Camden Markets. Before we started doing a proper look, we stopped and had a coffee and breakfast first. We didn't make too many purchases here but just a few small things.

After walking around and taking photos and doing some people watching, we hit the tube again to take us to Portobello Road Markets at Notting Hill.  No purchases were made here but it was nice to have a walk around and again do some people watching. From Portobello markets it was back on the tube to meet Pete (one of the guys from Adelaide that attended the conference with Carrie). We met Pete at one of his local pubs near the place he rented (1 bedroom loft apartment) with 8 other people about 20 years ago. We had a Sunday roast (including Yorkshire Pud) which was really good. After lunch we headed to another pub with Pete to have another pint (just to keep the economy ticking over).

After this pub we said our goodbyes to Pete, as he was heading for another pub further out of the city and we had some shopping to do. You guessed it, back on the tube. We headed firstly to Harrods and made a purchase.  We purchased a new pouch for our playing cards (because the boxes were ditched in Manchester as they had fallen apart and the plastic pouch they were spending their time in was not going to last either.  So now our playing cards have a pretty new pouch from Harrods.

From Harrods we headed to Oxford Street to go to Selfridges, where Carrie almost died. It was wet outside and funnily enough marble type floors don't work well with moisture.  So as we walked in the front door and started down the steps, Carrie took a dive and landed square on her bum on the edge of the step.  She is now the proud owner of a black bum cheek.  For those of you who know Carrie well, you will know that this is a new photo to be added to the collection of bruises gained on holidays.  All I can say is, I am pretty sure that's  not the addition she wanted to leave Selfridges with, it didn't even come in a Selfridges bag. Once we realised that Carrie was in one piece and could walk, we had a quick look through the store as they were shortly closing, despite the fact that google had said they would be open late. Never trust the internet.

After we got booted from Selfridges we headed back on the tube to Paddington Station and stopped by Tesco to pick up a microwave meal as neither of us could be bothered to go out and eat anywhere. We settled for Mac'n'cheese and had a glass of wine or two at home. We still had the wine from our hotel in Westminster when they bribed us not to get housekeeping every day.
