Tough day at the office

We had a lovely slow start this morning. Another nice breakfast in the hotel and then back up to the room to pack up our stuff.  Our hotel room has been lovely in Glasgow but we have had washing drying everywhere for the last two nights. We did put it through the dryer for an hour the other night but it still wasn't quite dry.  So we have literally had clothes hanging off every surface including lamp shades.

We went and grabbed Bonnie (the wee car) from the carpark around the corner and then drove back to hotel to throw Carrie out of the car to get the bags and then do a "blockie" and feigning innocence when cheating a turn somewhere.

After a few wrong turns trying to get us back on the motorway, we did a U-turn in the Tesco carpark and we were on our way. Off on the road to Doune Castle (Castle Leoch for the Outlander fans). The castle also features in Monty Pyhton and the Holy Grail. After a very tiny little left turn which required a 3 point manoeuvre, we arrived at Doune Castle and then required a 3 point car park due to the carpark being full and the last park being between 2 people who couldn't park properly.

We bought our tickets to see the castle, grabbed the audio guide thing and we were on our way.  There were a few different perspectives to the audience tour.  The general history of the castle, the information to do with Monty Python perspective and also the Outlander side of things.  It was all very interesting to see. Of course Carrie kissed this castle also to make up for not kissing the Blarney Stone.

From Doune Castle we headed to a lovely little cafe for lunch. Then it was time to hit the road again on our way to Oban.

We arrived in Oban to a traffic jam.  The weather was ok but grey when we arrived. After waiting 20 mins in line to check in with all the details required and Carrie waiting in the car for instructions on parking from me via messenger, I got to the front of the line only to have someone push in front for parking instructions and then get checked in first.  I honestly don't think that the man running the desk had any idea what he was doing.  It was either his first day on the job or he was doing someone else's job. He was useless.

After finally checking in and finding our room we went for a walk along the esplanade. The weather starting coming in an we made it into the shop just in time to buy a rain jacket (both left ours at home). After a good deal on a rain jacket each with a half price umbrella also, we were all set to head off and explore and find some dinner.

We found a lovely seafood restaurant and asked if they could fit us in.  It was just before 6pm when we got there and he said we could have the table til 7pm. We said if you can cook it, we can eat it in that time. We managed to have 1/2 doz. oysters to share, a main and dessert and we were out but 640pm. The food was amazing and the staff very friendly.

After dinner it was a quick trip to Tesco's via a goat track to get a
few supplies and then back to the hotel.
